This blog is not written by a food writer.
It’s not written by someone who knows everyone in the business. It’s not written by someone who claims to know everything (or even anything) about the latest fads in food. It’s simply the occasional chronicle of someone who, for both business and pleasure, has to eat out.
Over the years I’ve come to be increasingly astonished at the difference between good restaurants and bad. And I’ve become even more astonished at how few restaurants I’ve ever wanted to go back to.
So these are simply the highly subjective impressions of the first visit to restaurants in San Francisco. (And, who knows, beyond.)
The restaurant business is tough. In general, you have one chance to impress. If they don’t like it, they won’t come back.
So, you see, a restaurant is just like a blog. With a slightly higher overhead.
